A quiet note about how this Dhamma study companion handles information.

What Mitra is

Mitra is a Dhamma study companion. It answers questions about Buddhist teachings and can read its answers aloud with synthesized speech. Mitra's voice is computer-synthesized speech.

What we store

Mitra has no advertising and does not sell your data.

Voice and other channels

Text sent to Mitra may be processed by the language-model service that generates a reply. Text sent to text-to-speech services is used to produce synthesized audio. The web app may also accept speech for transcription.

If you use Mitra through WhatsApp, WhatsApp and Twilio handle the message delivery. Mitra stores WhatsApp conversation content through the same conversation system, and voice notes may be stored with a one-way hash of the phone identifier, transcript, and audio metadata.

Your device and your history

Mitra does not have user accounts. In the web app, history is tied to a random identifier kept in your browser on your device. Starting a fresh conversation or clearing Mitra's site data removes that browser's local pointer, but there is currently no conversation-deletion endpoint; records already stored on the server are retained.

Questions and rights

We handle personal data in accordance with applicable law, including the GDPR and UAE PDPL. For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].

This notice may be updated as Mitra grows.
